Several churches in the area of Chambersburg, PA, partner together for the Matthew 25 Project. This is one of the outreaches where Blessings of Hope provides food for communities who serve hungry and underserved families. Our partners in the Outreach Support Fund make these community events possible. Check out the video HERE.
The Blessings of Hope truck pulled up and unloaded at 2pm. The lines began to form almost immediately even though the event was scheduled to begin at 4pm. When we arrived at 3:45, things were already well under way.
The waiting cars stretched down the block but their system was efficient and well organized. Staff members stood directing traffic to form two lines in the parking lot, where the personal interaction started and never stopped. Every car was greeted enthusiasticall, mostly in Spanish, but also in English. Each car received printed material with information about the Gospel and they were asked if prayer was needed.
There were probably twenty Matthew 25 Project team members on each side of the car lines loading boxes of food into trunks and back seats. As the cars moved down the line, the drivers were offered chips, noodles, lettuce, kale, avocados, tomatoes, various canned goods, black raspberries and more. There were shouts of joy and declarations in Spanish as each new item was offered… patatas fritas, fideos, lechuga, col rizada, aguacates, tomates, productos enlatados varios, frambuesas negras…
At the end of the line, trunks and doors were gently closed and words rang out with a wave and a smile as the cars drove away. Blessings in Jesus’ name. God bless you. Have a good day. See you next time.
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:40
As the end of the year approaches, the need for food increases rather than decreases. Please take time to prayerfully consider joining Blessings of Hope in the mandate from Christ to feed and love and care for His children.
