In 2023, Blessings of Hope formed an exciting partnership with Barnabas Aid who gifted us an industrial size food dehydrator. The plan is to take the fresh fruits and vegetables we receive and give them a stable shelf-life for international outreach. When distributed, these dehydrated items can easily be transformed into hearty soups or stews, bringing warmth and nutrition to many who do not have access to the nutrition found in fresh vegetables. Barnabas Aid transports the dehydrated goods to their destinations and we are eagerly waiting for stories and pictures from the distribution.
Last month, the first shipment of dehydrated food was sent to poverty-stricken Haiti. Our team of staff and volunteers spent 9 months prepping and learning how to dehydrate produce including sweet potatoes, sweet peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, celery, kale, onions, and spinach. Once everything was dehydrated, the team spent days measuring scoops of each type of vegetable into bags for easy, nutritious meals. Volunteers and staff gathered to pray over the shipment before it was loaded onto the truck. When the shipment reaches Haiti, there will be as many as 19,000 people blessed with meals made from food that would otherwise have been wasted.
Blessings of Hope is continually seeking ways to maximize the benefits of the food we receive. The Lord has been gracious to connect us with like-minded partners and to give us ideas beyond what we can imagine on our own. Your generosity makes everything we do possible and we are grateful beyond words.
