Dear Friends,
We would like to introduce you to our partners, The School District of Lancaster, who are dedicated to giving a hand up to families experiencing homelessness!
The School District of Lancaster Families in Transition program aims to reduce barriers for children experiencing homelessness so they can attend and succeed in school. They provide personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, bus passes, book bags and school supplies, sneakers, clothing, and more. Other ways they help include assisting with school enrollment and placement, providing referrals for food, shelter, and healthcare, and arranging transportation.
Representatives shared with us that our food voucher program is their favorite form of food help because it empowers the individuals to select what they want. Oftentimes, SDOL hears stories of families who are unsure which pressing bill to pay first. It is a joy handing out vouchers so groceries become one less bill for the family to worry about.
Over the holidays SDOL partners with WEPA for Jesus, Ebenezer’s Baptist Church, Para Packs, and many other organizations to ensure that every child in their program is sponsored to receive a Christmas gift. In addition, they deliver 75 hot Christmas meals to families living in hotels who otherwise may not have a nutritious meal during the holiday. We are proud to partner with neighbors helping neighbors.
You too can give a hand up to families experiencing hunger in our community. Click HERE to give a one time or recurring gift today! Every $1 enables us to distribute 2+ meals. We are grateful for your support.
Blessings,
Blessings of Hope
