Hello Friends and Supporters,
Blessings of Hope would like to take a moment to share some of the special moments experienced during the 2023 iCare Community Event this past weekend. The amazing participation and uplifting community spirit were truly a blessing. Your continued support helps further our mission of being the hands and feet of Jesus, providing food to the hungry, and spreading hope throughout your communities.
This year, iCare kicked off Thursday night with a formal banquet that set a gracious, heartfelt tone of generosity over the next three days. Friday was filled with lively melodies from Daughters of Hope and laughter brought on by the entertaining performance of comedian and ventriloquist, Ryan & Friends. We loved seeing so many of you enjoying this fun evening.
Saturday was the absolute best day, jam packed with an array of activities that brought the community together. The morning started with a 5k race, stirring a friendly competitive spirit among our participants. Great job to Tyler Hill and Abigail Nissley for placing “Top Male” and “Top Female” runners with impressive times of 19:25 and 28:32 respectively!
Shortly after the 5k, the iCare auction started, and this year the community really came together for us! The number of donated items from local businesses, friends, and family was humbling and we are grateful beyond words. There was a stunning 1966 Chevy Caprice—total auction show-stopper—fetching a generous $10,200 to support our mission. We are truly grateful for the support of our community and the spirit of Jesus that took place this entire weekend!
A new event for iCare this year was the Cornhole tournament. Larry Rutt’s team won a big victory, then kindly donated their winnings back to the auction, demonstrating a true spirit of giving. Our all-day feast of food on Saturday delighted the palate of all who attended, featuring a mouthwatering all-you-can-eat menu, Fannie’s famous handmade soft pretzels and ice cream.
It is inspiring to witness how our staff, volunteers, friends and family, all helped bring this event to life. Thank you once again for being part of our mission, and for your commitment to ending hunger in America. We are already looking forward to the next iCare event. See you in 2024!
With Grateful Hearts,
Blessings of Hope
