Treat You Like Family: Meet Hive to Harvest in Monroe County

Dear Friends,

In Monroe County, there’s a food pantry where you’re more than a number. You’re known by name.

We’re honored to partner with Hive to Harvest, a ministry founded by Krista with a simple but powerful mission: treat every family like family.

Hive to Harvest operates by appointment only — and that’s intentional.

Krista knows every person who walks through the door. Some families drive as far as 45 minutes for an appointment. Not just because they need groceries, but because they know they’ll be met with dignity, compassion, and genuine care.

This isn’t a place where people feel rushed through a line. It’s a place where conversations happen. Where stories are shared. Where people are seen.

Every week, Jennifer, a dedicated volunteer, visits our selection center to gather fresh food for the pantry. She carefully loads groceries and transports them back to Monroe County — currently using her personal vehicle to do so.

Right now, Hive to Harvest’s greatest need is a box truck or sprinter van. Reliable transportation would allow them to move food more efficiently and safely, expanding their ability to serve families without placing the burden on a volunteer’s personal car.

It’s a practical need — but meeting it would make a lasting impact.

While visiting the pantry, one moment stood out to us.

As an item was offered to a family, we overheard them say, “Only if another family doesn’t need it.”

Even in the midst of their own hardship, they were thinking of others.

That’s the kind of community Krista has cultivated — one where generosity flows in every direction.

Hive to Harvest operates out of a shared building alongside the township offices and serves residents of Monroe County. But their vision reaches beyond food distribution. Looking ahead, they hope to expand their kitchen space to:

  • Offer cooking lessons
  • Serve hot meals
  • Teach budgeting and sustainable living skills
  • Promote healthy lifestyles

Their goal isn’t just to provide a handout — it’s to offer a hand up. To equip families with tools and knowledge that create lasting change.

We invite you to take a few minutes to watch the video below and learn more about how Hive to Harvest is serving the Monroe County community with dignity and heart.

We are deeply grateful to partner with ministries like Hive to Harvest that prioritize relationships, respect, and long-term impact.

Thank you for being part of a community that cares so deeply — and helps us treat families like family.

With gratitude,
