As National Volunteer Month wraps up, we’re reflecting on the incredible people who help make Blessings of Hope’s mission come to life. All month long, we’ve been sharing stories of some of the selfless volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to serve others. And today, we’re closing out the celebration with one more highlight that captures the heart of what volunteering is all about.
Meet Bob Bruckhart. Bob volunteers regularly at our dehydration facility in East Petersburg. Since retiring, he’s discovered a renewed sense of purpose through service—and he’s become an essential part of our team. When asked what motivates him, Bob shared, “I get fulfillment out of volunteering instead of just doing nothing. I really like dehydration—making the soup mix, taking something that’s going to soon be thrown away and turning it into something useful. And then it’s going to people who are really, really in need.”
It’s stories like Bob’s that remind us why we do what we do. Every hour spent volunteering makes a real impact—and behind each act of service is a person who has chosen to show up, give back, and be part of something bigger than themselves.
