Dear Friends,
Sometimes, the simple act of showing up to serve others turns into something much greater.
At Blessings of Hope, we see that truth lived out every single day through the dedication of our volunteers—and today, we’re honored to highlight one individual who embodies that spirit in a powerful way.
Jon Martin serves as a Volunteer Coordinator Assistant in our Dry Area, and his journey with Blessings of Hope began with a simple goal: finding a meaningful way to spend his evenings. What started as a search for volunteer opportunities quickly grew into a deep and consistent commitment.
Today, Jon faithfully serves three shifts each week, becoming a reliable and integral part of our mission to fight food insecurity and serve our community.
His dedication has not gone unnoticed.

Jon is the recipient of our Dependable Volunteer Award, a recognition given to those who go above and beyond in their service—those who show up, stay committed, and make a lasting impact.
When asked what motivates him, Jon shared a perspective that beautifully captures the heart of volunteering:
“The reason we’re here is to help others. If we’re not helping other people, then we might as well not be doing anything. Helping others is the best way to help yourself.”
His words are a reminder that service isn’t just about meeting needs—it’s about creating purpose, connection, and hope.

Jon, along with other outstanding volunteers, will be officially recognized at our upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 21. This special evening is dedicated to celebrating the incredible individuals who make our work possible day in and day out.
It’s because of volunteers like Jon that we are able to rescue food, serve families, and bring hope to our community.
We are deeply thankful for the time, energy, and compassion our volunteers give so generously. Their willingness to serve is what fuels our mission and extends hope to those who need it most.
To Jon—and to every volunteer who shows up with a heart to serve—thank you. Your impact matters more than you know.
With gratitude,
Blessings of Hope
