In the spirit of National Volunteer Month this April, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the unsung heroes who dedicate their time and effort to our cause. At Blessings of Hope, our volunteers are the lifeblood of our mission, enabling us to distribute a staggering 1.8 million meals every month to those in need. As we reflect on their invaluable contributions, we are humbled by their unwavering commitment to serving others.
Our volunteers wear many hats, from sorting produce to repackaging food, stocking shelves, and ensuring efficient distribution of meals. Yet, it’s not just the visible tasks they undertake; it’s the behind-the-scenes work—cleaning, painting, and a myriad of other essential duties—that truly make a difference. Each act of service, no matter how small, has a ripple effect, touching the lives of the 50 million hungry individuals across America.
We are honored to share a touching testimonial from one of our volunteers, Barb High, whose experience embodies the essence of community and selflessness:
“My friend and I were scheduled to work together at Blessings of Hope to spend quality time together & she planned to take me out to eat for my birthday afterwards and bless me with her voucher. I was sad when my friend messaged me and said she had to cancel due to having a sick child. As a mom of 6 I understood and accepted the fact that God had something better in mind and prayed this was the case. I longed for fellowship and God fulfilled that desire with a brother and sister in Christ volunteering the same shift who I never met before.
Volunteering became sweet fellowship and I felt God’s love and embrace all day while sharing our struggles and joys as we washed blueberries. My sister in Christ handed me her voucher and said, “I want you to have this”. I gave her a hug and told her that’s what my friend was planning to do. She said, “Wow, only God can do these things.”

Volunteer Appreciation Event
As we celebrate the invaluable service of our volunteers, we invite you to join us at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 23rd. This event, held during National Volunteer Month, is our opportunity to express our gratitude and honor those who have gone above and beyond in the past year. Refreshments and soft pretzels will be served as we come together to recognize the selfless contributions of our volunteers.
