Over the past year, they have made a substantial impact, providing essential support to nearly 900 individuals. Their commitment reaches far beyond academics. By offering critical resources such as hygiene products, cleaning supplies, bus passes, backpacks, school supplies, sneakers, and clothing, they address the practical needs that can often stand in the way of a student’s success.
This dedication extends even further as they assist with school enrollment, facilitate access to food, shelter, and healthcare, and arrange transportation for families facing homelessness or housing instability. Their work is a testament to the power of community-focused efforts to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
One of the most pressing issues Lisette highlighted in her conversation with David was the ongoing shortage of available shelters. With rising rents and shelter capacities maxed out, many families in Lancaster County are forced to wait for vital assistance. The School District of Lancaster’s Families in Transition program remains unwavering in its mission, meeting the needs of families where it matters most.
