On Saturday, August 13th, 2022 Blessings of Hope traveled to Brooklyn, NY for an outreach in partnership with Faith Life Ministries located in the heart of Brooklyn. Faith Life Ministries is one of our partners who is passionate about reaching the people of Brooklyn for Jesus, and advancing the Kingdom of God. They embrace bringing change by bringing hope and joy to the city.
Blessings of Hope has partnered with Faith Life Ministries for many years and this event is always a highlight of the summer. Every year FLM gets permission from the city to shut down the street for this outreach. They call it a fun day, with a bounce house, street activities, lots of good food, worship and preaching.
Our joint teams set up around 7:30 AM and the outreach went full steam until 4 PM. This year Blessings of Hope was privileged to grill and give away over 500 burgers and around 300 breakfast sandwiches. We handed out drinks, candy, salads, fruit, snacks, and coffee. It was amazing to see the joy appear on people’s faces as they realized the food was absolutely free.
The community was inspired. Acts of kindness like this are limited in the city, and not only did they get food to eat immediately, but they could also take a box of groceries home for the coming week! Near the end of the day, Blessings of Hope gave out almost 250 Hands of Hope food boxes!
There is a homeless shelter close by and we noticed several people from there coming back multiple times during the day to receive food. They were so blessed! Food is our tool to bring hope to the hurting and this was a red letter day for our team. To find an outreach near you visit HERE.
