Dear Friends,
In the spirit of National Friendship Month, we’re reminded of the incredible power that friendship holds to transform lives and communities. Today, we bring you a heartwarming story of two extraordinary women, Kathy Short and Ana Cozzone, whose bond has blossomed into a partnership that’s making a real difference in the world.
Kathy, a dedicated volunteer at Blessings of Hope, and Ana, the founder of Nehemiah Community Development Center Inc. in the Philippines, first met at church. What started as a shared commitment to helping others quickly grew into a deep and meaningful friendship. Together, they’ve turned their passion for service into a powerful mission: providing food, shelter, and education to homeless boys and supporting some of the most vulnerable individuals living in landfills.
Ana’s journey of service began in 2016 when she started teaching English and Bible scriptures to homeless children on the streets. However, she soon realized that these children needed more than just education—they needed a safe space to call home. In 2017, Ana established a day center, and by 2018, she had moved into a residential home where the boys could receive education in a secure environment. Her work has been life-changing for these young boys, offering them hope and a brighter future.
Inspired by Ana’s dedication, Kathy has become an essential supporter of her work. Through Blessings of Hope’s Ministry Selection Center, Kathy carefully selects and sends boxes of food and essential supplies to Ana’s ministry. On her most recent trip, Kathy stocked up on health and beauty aids, breakfast biscuits, hot cocoa, boxed chocolate and other candy, snacks, and other non-perishable items. These shipments are more than just supplies; they are a lifeline that brings hope and joy to those who receive them.
As we celebrate National Friendship Month, we honor the powerful impact of Kathy and Ana’s friendship on their communities. Their story is a testament to what can be achieved when we come together with a shared purpose. Friendship has the power to change the world—one life at a time.
